“Eating disorders cost the UK £9.4 billion in 2020 – we need to invest in a nationwide strategy to tackle this crisis.” I read in the news headlines.
I have recovered. I understood the principles, educated myself and fully recovered. I can now help and openly share how to recover.
As I delve into the stuff on social media, I’m shocked by the lack of adequate resources and so much of harmful content. It’s a reminder of how much society is responsible for triggering this situation.
Society has become fanatics of the word “fat” or “skinny”, like that would change anything in your brain!
I continue on my search: A pro-eating disorder websites. That is just enough! I decided to make a video on TikTok using the words “eating disorder”. I am banned within 5 minutes! Where is the logic? You can find all the bad stuff on social media, yet when you try to help, you are banned because you named an eating disorder as it sounds.
First, the most important to remember is that suffering from ED is hard enough. Why does the world make it harder? Social Fanatics, social media rubbish, and word insecurities are unnecessary!
Seccond, our primary focus should be on what truly matters in ED recovery-restoring balance and health without unnecessary distractions or triggers. This is not just a process, but a journey towards true healing.
Third, educate doctors that putting a person with an Eating Disorder on a scale is a trigger and that putting more diet restrictions on that person is even worse! They have been eating salad for months or years, some even half their lives, so another “healthy” prescribed diet won’t change much!
And fourth is how you name an eating disorder. People Who dieted in their lives and have bulimia, anorexia, or other restrictive patterns are within the restrictive eating disorder spectrum. They will never suffer from binge eating disorder. It is a completely different disorder, which I will not comment on as I don’t have experience with that disorder.
The only reason why people with restrictive eating disorders think that they have binge eating disorder is because they can eat out of control when the body tries to re-feed. In other words, The body and mind are starved and scream for nutrition, which is constantly restricted in the form of not eating, dieting, purging or exercising.
They are vulnerable because their bodies and minds suffer.
The first step must be to heal the body and mind.
We have created a full list of bad food; we slowly eliminated everything from the good list.
Life problems, abuse? Yes, the Low self-esteem and life issues all trigger the ED! But, once the body is starved, you must feed and heal the body first, before anything else! It would help if you healed the broken legs before you could run.
Many Social media pages should be banned, and society needs to be educated properly on the subject.
Social media stuff. Please, stay away from it or look at anything else, not social fanatics posting their insecurities.
The Internet can be very good if we use it wisely. An online forum helped me recover. I met some amazing people and used social media with good faith and according to my values and ethics.
If you suffer from ED, listen to people who love you and understand you and who want to help. Don’t suffer in silence; don’t be fooled by social media fanatics who enjoy hurting others.
Let the water come. Your ship is strong. Stay strong
