This moment, when you transform your weakness into your strength, you will realise how unnecessary it is to worry.
It’s been many years of my recovery, healthy path and when I see the harmony and trust I built with my body and mind, I see, that my failures were my best teachers.
If I hadn’t had a relapse of my eating disorder at the age of 30, I would not have been able to gain the knowledge I have today, the balance many people ask me about, and I would probably be unaware of how to recover from Restrictive Eating Disorder consciously.
If I hadn’t been so fed up with this beast called ED, I would probably not have recovered. Because I so badly wanted to be fully healthy, not having any stupid restrictions, not giving a single thought about my weight, but being happy, healthy and in balance – I said: My life my rules!
I am saying that many people who have never experienced ED may misunderstand my point.
Being healthy, happy, not dieting, and not restricting doesn’t mean eating and eating.
Being balanced means you don’t need to restrict yourself because your body trusts you blindly. You eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you need a treat, you have a treat. You keep your body happy and not restricted. Only then will your body not crave. For people who diet and diet, it sounds unreal. For people who recover from eating disorders – the unreal is the only way to recover. Very real, very good and very possible. Because we crossed the line, because we are genetically prone to ED, we mastered perfect body-mind balance.
Do you sometimes think why people who are disabled (lost an arm or leg or had serious injury) are the best climbers, runners or swimmers?
Because they didn’t give up and tried a hundred times harder to prove themselves that they could, they became one of the best!
This mastery happens when you recover from an eating disorder. You master the relationship with your mind, practice mindfulness, listen to your body, and stop restrictions.
Don’t think about a blue tree. What did you think about just now?
You will recover from ED if you learn this basic principle, eat often, and satisfy your body and mind so it doesn’t starve or crave blue trees.
On top of that, if you are persistent and don’t give up, you build a strong neural pathway, which will overgrow the old ED pathway to hell.
I’ll say more – you’ll never diet again because you won’t need to. Because you’ll be balanced and healthy.
Studying neuroscience, and emotional intelligence and reading some great books, helped me transform my weaknesses into strengths.
Today, you may feel weak and struggle. But this struggle is your best teacher. That struggle will make sure you will grow in strength.
If you never fall, you’ll never know how to stand up. The more you fall, the better you stand up. Don’t cry when you slip or relapse. It’s a reminder of what you don’t want.
Stand up, and build new pathway to freedom.
Nail it!
Love and light
Kasia
